Management of GRIDCo announces planned outages at Koforidua

Accra, Nov. 11, GNA - The management of Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) on Tuesday announced planned outages on its Akosombo-Tafo lines in order to raise the height of its transmission lines running at a road crossing at Oyoko, near Koforidua on Friday, November 13.

It said as a result, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) would take out service to consumers in Koforidua and its environs to provide safe working space for the contractor to work on the lines A statement issued in Accra and signed by Albert Kwesi Quainoo, Head of Public Relations, said the outages would be over a period of four days. It said the outages would be limited from 0700 hours to 1800 hours on each day beginning from Friday, November 13 to Monday, November 16, 2009. The statement requested the Department of Urban Roads to close the Oyoko road crossing to vehicular traffic at the work location during the period and provide appropriate diversions to the driving public. "GRIDCo finds it very important to carry out this work to prevent any contact with the high voltage lines and prevent the risk of accidents to vehicles using the road, "it said.

"The management of GRIDCo sincerely apologises to residents in the municipality and road users for the inconveniences this would cause to them," the statement said.
