Accra, Nov. 17, GNA - The Management of Politex Industries, manufacturers of plastic products on Tuesday donated items worth GHc1,200 towards this year's National Farmers' Day celebration scheduled for Friday, December 4.
The items include 100 pieces of 30-litre jeri cans, 480 pieces of four-litre jeri cans and a 21-inch colour television set.
Presenting the items, Mr Emmanuel Martey Sankah, Manager of Politex Industries said the package was to assist farmers to store chemicals and other materials for easy conveyance to their farms.
"We need to assist farmers to improve on their performance," he said. Receiving the items, Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister said all and sundry must recognise and appreciate the efforts of farmers.
He said the country was dominated by farmers who should be motivated to increase food production.
"The Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council would institute measures to ensure that farmers within its jurisdiction had access to all the required inputs to improve their operations," he added.
