Mankessim-Inglewood sister city committee inaugurated

Saltpond, Sept. 17, GNA - A 19 member-committee was inaugurated at Saltpond on Friday to be responsible for the Mankessim-Inglewood Sister-city programme.

Nana Araba Otua II, Queen mother of Mankessim in the Mfansteman District initiated the programme twin the town with Inglewood in California in the United States last year.

The initial agreement for the programme was signed in Inglewood in February 2005 while the second and final part would be concluded in January 2006, in Ghana.

Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive for the Mfantseman district, who inaugurated the committee called on the members to work conscientiously and to desist from dragging the committee into chieftaincy disputes.

He urged them to use the programme for the mutual benefit of the two communities, adding that, "it should be a give and take relations for both partners".

The DCE asked the committee to create opportunities that could be used by the people of Inglewood to deepen ties with their counterparts at Mankessim.

He called for the establishment of a reliable channel to enhance the sharing of information between the two partners to promote development and exchange programmes between their people. Mr Quainoo-Arthur said the assembly would do everything to assist the members of the committee to perform the duties assigned them and urged them not to let the district down.
