Marriage counselling book launched in Kumasi

Kumasi, Oct. 17, GNA - A 275-page marriage counselling book, entitled "Bone of my Bones" was on Sunday launched at South Suntreso in Kumasi.

The Reverend E.R.C. Odame, General Overseer of the King's Church at Suntreso, authored the book.

Reverend Stephen Kwabena Asante, Vice-President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, who launched the book, expressed concern about increasing marriage problems, notably the neglect of children in society.

He attributed such problems to the lack of understanding among couples and others and hoped that the book would help change the attitudes of people in addressing the problem. Rev Asante commended the efforts, the initiative and foresight of the author in writing the book and recommended it to be used in marriage counselling in churches and other institutions to address the problems of divorces. The Vice-President of the Ghana Baptist Convention stressed the need for people to cultivate the habit of reading books to help broaden their scope of knowledge and understanding issues of national interest and the world as a whole. Rev Odame said the rampant divorces, increasing neglect of children and other marriage related problems motivated him to write the book to help address the menace. He said the book was therefore to help both Christians and non-Christians to live decent lives. Rev Odame indicated that streetism, child delinquencies and broken homes have come about as a result of divorces and therefore urged couples to hold unto God in times of crisis. The General Overseer of the King's Church explained that marriage is a mutual responsibility ordained by God and asked Christians as well as non-Christians to ensure successful marriage at all times. The author spoke against homosexuality, fornication and lesbianism, which he said, were all sins against God, and urged society to stop such practices.
