Mr Foster Agotse, Volta Regional Manager of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Schools, has commended the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Mawuli Basic E.P. School Complex for transforming the infrastructure of the school into a model facility.

Mr Agbotse gave the commendation at the inauguration of a GH¢ 4,500.00 Information Communication Technology (ICT) library funded by the PTA.

The PTA built all classroom blocks, offices and toilet facilities, in the past 36 years without government support.

Mr Agotse said Mawuli Basic School is the only basic school in his Unit with no single GETFund project and praised the Association for the foresight and commitment to quality education.

“This is complete community participation and I’m full of admiration for your PTA,” he said.

Mr Agotse urged parents to help schools with improved physical conditions necessary for preparing their children for the future despite the free education policy.

Mrs Fafa Adinyira, Ho Municipal Chief Executive expressed surprise that the school had no GETFund project and tasked the authorities of the school to make requests for assistance in order to accommodate the increasing enrolment which stands at 1,2000 students.

She also commended the PTA for “storming the odds” for 36 years and keeping the school among the top performers in the Municipality.

Mrs Adinyira said ICT is now indispensable in curricular development and implementation and advised both teachers and students to put the facility to good use.

Mrs Nancy Ocloo, one of the headmistresses of the school said the academic facility lacks furniture, compelling students at the Junior High School to bring tables and chairs for lessons.

She said though the school has hundreds of reading materials, it lacks a library facility, which is undermining the usefulness of the books.

Mrs Ocloo said the school is also in dire need of an additional ICT laboratory, a kindergarten and decent toilet facilities for the growing population of students.

Nana Frititi II, PTA Chairman of the School complex said the vision for the facility is to restore its academic glory and be the best basic public school in the region.
