McDan Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of the McDan Group of companies has feted over 3,000 aged women and widows and provided them with food items as part of activities to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The items were handed out on Boxing Day (December 26, 2019) at the yet-to-be-commissioned McDan La Town Park in Accra and marked the climax of a week-long event by the Foundation to bring Christmas cheer to the less privileged in the Ghanaian society.
In an address, the founder and chief executive officer of McDan Group of Companies, Mr Daniel McKorley urged corporate Ghana to give back to the less privileged in society.
He said the McDan Foundation has been feeding widows for over six years but it was a herculean task which can only be undertaken nationwide with the support of all corporate bodies in the country.
“Every time, I call on corporate Ghana, I call on corporate individuals. Government cannot do it all, so corporate Ghana must come in so Ghana will be a better place,” Mr McKorley stated.
He also advocated for corporate bodies to come to the aid of street children and homeless people by funding their education and providing them with jobs.
The Member of Parliament for the La-Dadekotopon constituency, Vincent Sowah Odotei urged other corporate bodies and NGO’s to emulate the McDan Foundation by providing social interventions to the less privileged in the La township.
“He has been doing this consistently for many years in Osu, La, Teshie and Nungua and I will urge others to emulate what the Foundation is doing for the less privileged across the country,” he said.
