The Kpadjai Roman Catholic Basic School in the Gonja East District of the Northern Region has taken delivery of 50 dual desks purchased and supplied by the Medifem Multi-Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre as part of the Hospital’s social initiative policy.

This followed a feature aired by Ghana Television (GTV) highlighting challenges of teaching and learning in the area.

Mrs Wilhelmina Banful, the Hospital Manager in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the Hospital was always seeking ways to underline its social initiatives philosophy and saw this as an opportunity to impact the lives of children in the area.

Mrs Banful added that against the background of education being essential for national development, the Hospital would step up efforts at assisting government and development partners in mitigating the challenges of education in the country.

“We are doing this purely with the interest of the children who hitherto have been learning on the floor at heart. Education is perhaps the most important sector that any company can invest in because its impacts the nation as a whole and we are hoping to do more in this area.

"It gives us great joy that through this intervention and many others, lives will be impacted,” She said.

Mr Edward Osei, the Headmaster of the School, thanked the Hospital for its kind gesture and also expressed appreciation to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation for giving coverage to their challenges which has resulted in the donation.

He said the furniture had come in at a good time and would help alleviate some challenges related with teaching and learning in the school.

He promised to ensure that the furniture served the intended purpose and called on other corporate bodies to emulate Medifem’s example.

The statement said in attendance to witness the event were pupils and teachers of the School, chiefs, parents, representatives from the clergy as well as partners from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
