Members of Central Region paralegals upgraded knowledge

Cape Coast, Jan. 16, GNA - Fifty members of the Central Region branch of Paralegals Association of Ghana on Friday ended a three-day capacity building workshop at Cape Coast with a call on members to continue to work hard to find solutions to Adolescents Sexual Reproduction Health issues.

Participants were drawn from the Gomoa, Assin North, Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Cape Coast and Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem districts. The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in collaboration with the African Youth Alliance (AYA) organized it with the aim to strengthen paralegal community advocacy in Adolescence Sexual Reproductive (ASRH) Health Rights.

They were taken through topics including ASRH Rights and Issues in Ghana, Legal Framework, Laws, Policies, International Convention and Advocacy Mediation and Counselling Techniques in ASRH at the district and community level.

Addressing them, the Project co-ordinator, Mr Charles Habiah reminded the participants not to forget their mean role of helping to train community leaders on ASRH Rights and law.

He said that the Paralegals have helped to reduce ASRH violation in their respective districts and communities and further said that the Gomoa District handled not less than 500 cases successfully.

Mr Habiah appealed to NGOs, the district assemblies and other stakeholders to support the over 800 trained members of the Association in the Central Region to discharge their duties efficiently.
