Ho, Nov. 01, GNA - Mr Justice Jones Victor Mawulom Dotse, a past President of Rotary Club of Ho, on Saturday urged Rotarians to work towards uniting people of all ethnic and tribal backgrounds. He asked them to preach unity while they moved about to offer community service to the people.
Mr Justice Dotse, a Supreme Court Judge, said this at a Presidential Fund-Raising Dinner Dance organized by the Rotary Club of Ho. He expressed concern about the rising tribal sentiments in the country and called for the need to revive a sense of nationality in the populace. Mr Justice Dotse therefore charged the Rotarians to wage a war against tribal and ethnic sentiments and discourage issues of "we are these people, we deserve these and this is for us".
He said; "Let the spirit of oneness in Rotary catch up with our people. Let them know we are one and eschew all tribal sentiments for the nation to develop in unity and togetherness".
Mrs Marian Adzroe, current President of Rotary Club of Ho and the First Women President in 24 years, pledged the preparedness of her team to promote integration of people of all backgrounds to ensure peaceful and rapid development.
She said her administration intended to complete all ongoing projects including a Rotary Community Centre for the training of the physically challenged and to serve as a care centre for the aged. Mrs Adzroe urged all to remain committed to the "World Polio Free for All" initiative and contribute towards achieving that aim. Madam Sena Akua Dansua, Minister of Women and Children's Affairs, commended the club for the community service and urged members to do more for children, the disabled and women who were the most vulnerable in society. 01 Nov. 09
