Husbands have been called upon to support and encourage their wives to pursue higher education.

Professor Franklyn Manu, Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration said gone were the days when women were assigned the kitchen role and that they should be motivated to acquire knowledge for their personal advancement.

The Professor told the GNA at the maiden matriculation ceremony of the school’s satellite campus at Takoradi in which 89 students of which majority were women, were admitted into the school.

He said encouraging women to advance in their career lightened the economic burden on men and therefore helped in the holistic advancement of the family and the society as a whole.

Professor Manu was quick to add that women could advance higher on the academic ladder and contribute meaningfully to society if their husbands supported them at home, adding, “Ghanaian men have been “pampered” for so long a time”.
