Saltpond, July 8, GNA - The Mfantseman District Assembly is to erect billboards at vantage points to display the prices of essential products in the various markets.
This is to help farmers and fishermen to market their products at acceptable prices.
Mr Jonathan Benefo, a District Planning officer announced this at a sensitisation workshop on the Community-based Rural Development project for some Town/Area Council members at Saltpond on Thursday. CBRDP, a successor project of the Village Infrastructure Project to reduce poverty being funded by the International Development Association of the World Bank, Agence Francaise Development and the government. Mr Benefo said the quotation of the prices would reduce the cheating of farmers and fishermen by middlemen and women. The Planning Officer took the participants through what the project stood for, the benefits to be derived from, the role of learning centres and how to access loans and grants.
Opening the workshop, Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive asked the participants to take the workshop very seriously to enable them to explain what the project stood for to the people. He urged them to use loans and equipment provided judiciously to enable them to pay back without encountering difficulties. 08 July 05
