Bolgatanga, Aug. 4, GNA - The Rev. Father Michael Schultheis, Vice Chancellor of Catholic University College Fiapre in Brong Ahafo Region has toured the Upper East Region to solicit for more funds for the University.
Father Schultheis disclosed this at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish at a talk on the need to support the University College financially. He said his tour of the parishes in the country was to sensitise parishioners on how costly university education was and to let them know that the first batch of 30 students had started serious academic work. He said the University has the vision of producing graduates to meet the challenge of the 21st century.
He said each student was expected to pay eight million cedis and urged District Assemblies, Non-Governmental Organisation and the Catholic Community to sponsor needy students.
He said the University College is currently running programmes including Religious Studies, Economic and Business Administration and Public Health.
Other programmes include Information and Communication Science and Technology leading to the award of B.Sc degree. He described the University as being unique and that the lecturers and students are poised to deliver their best.
