Minister cuts sod for market complex

Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister on Thursday cut the sod for the commencement of work on the construction of a 3.1 billion cedis market complex at Prang in the Atebubu District.

The Government is funding the project under the Village Infrastructure Project (VIP).

The old market will be demolished to make way for the construction of the new one, which will contain 60 stores, more than 200 sheds, offices for the market management and places of convenience.

Nana Seinti, who was on a two-day official visit to the district during a courtesy call on Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, Pranghene said the construction of the market signified the Government's determination to help improve the socio-economic lives of the people.

He expressed the hope that the Prang Traditional Council and the community would play its part to ensure that the project would be completed on schedule.

Nana Nyarko commended the Government for ensuring the equitable distribution of national resources for the benefit of all Ghanaians.

He said the completion of the market would benefit the people immensely because it would boost economic activities in the area.

Memaks Limited, an Accra-based construction firm, is executing the project.
