Minister directs RCC to establish students' desk

Tamale, Feb 24, GNA - Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique, the Northern Regional Minister, on Wednesday directed the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to establish a students' desk to receive complaints, views and suggestions from students from second cycle institutions in the region.

He said such a measure would help bring sanity in the schools and improve performance.

Alhaji Saddique gave the directive when he toured some second cycle schools in the Tamale metropolis to interact with school authorities and to learn of their problems.

He said the region had been plagued with conflicts and told the students to see conflicts as agents of destruction and strive to be apostles of peace.

"As students you are the light and beacon of hope in the society and you must take up the challenges to better yourselves and society at large".

Alhaji Saddique urged them to be disciplined and to desist from peddling wrong information about national issues and programmes. "Your contributions will be beneficial if they help educate the public on such issues".

At the Kalpohini Senior Secondary School Mr Wilberforce Sayibu, the Headmaster, expressed concern about the poor infrastructure and lack of means of transport in the school and appealed to the government and benevolent organisations to assist.

Madam Asobayeri Braimah, the Headmistress of Vittin Senior Secondary School, lauded the students' desk idea and said, "this will help bridge the communication gap between school authorities and the student body as well as improve relations with the RCC".
