Minister donates hearse to Damongo muslim community

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Northern Regional Minister has donated a hearse worth GH? 35,000.00 to the Damongo muslim community to help ease the problem of transporting the dead to the cemetery.

The Minister also donated an amount of GH?1,000.00, as part of a start-up capital, to help in maintaining the hearse.

The donation formed part of activities to mark the Minister’s 48th birthday celebrations, which came off on August 8.

Alhaji Limuna, speaking after presenting the item to the community at Damongo, said he usually embarked on a series of activities to mark his birthdays and this year, he and his family decided to do something different, by impacting on their community hence the donation of the hearse.

Mr Ali Bakari Kassim, West Gonja District Chief Executive expressed gratitude to the Minister for the kind gesture, which came at an opportune time because it had been difficult to transport the dead since the relocation of the community cemetery.

Mr Kassim assured that the community would maintain the hearse to keep it in good shape.

Mr Abass Dari, a resident of Damongo was very happy with the Minister’s gesture and expressed gratitude to him, saying “Now we do not have to struggle to transport our dead to the cemetery, the hearse will make things easy for us”.
