Accra, Aug 19, GNA-Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, on Thursday donated 15 buckets of paint and a computer to the 31 December Women Movement School in Accra.
Dr Ahmed said the donation was in response to a request made by management of the school when he donated to the school at its graduation ceremony.
He noted that the donation would help enhance administrative work in the school through the use of computing and improved learning.
Dr Ahmed said he recognised the uniqueness of the school since it is located close to the Nima market which makes it an ideal place to send children and easy pick after closing.
The Minister noted that since “we are in the Month of Ramadan, one good turn deserves another”, therefore the donation was a sign of reaching out to the needy in society.
He noted that it was the policy of the school not to send their children home for non-payment of fees and has decided he would bear the fees of all school children who have defaulted for the term.
Dr Ahmed said the move was to encourage children to remain in school and have confidence to learn and pass well.
The Deputy Minister said the best legacy parents can offer was to provide good and sound for their wards which would lead to a “sustainable leadership” in the future.
He said “education was the key to success, development of community, emancipation, good health, solutions to the woes and ills of the community and a tool to liberation from poverty”.
Mrs Antoinette Ami Ashong, Headmistress of the school, thanked the Deputy Minister for the donation and promised that it would be used for its intended purposes.
She appealed to other institutions and individuals to come on board to support the school in its quest to deliver quality education.
