Minister inaugurates ICT centre at Agona Abodom

Agona Abodom, C/R, Aug.14, GNA- The Deputy Central Regional Minister Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai on Saturday inaugurated a 500-million cedi Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre constructed by the members of the Abodom Development Association.

He commended the members of the association for their sense of responsibility in the provision of ICT which would assist the pupils, students and teachers in the town to become computer literate.

Mr Obodai, who is also MP for Agona West urged the parents to encourage their children to take the study of computer serious since technology has made the whole world to become a small village. The MP also inaugurated three a classroom block for Early Childhood Development Centre constructed by Plan Ghana, non governmental Organisation for the town.

He called on the parents to take advantage of the project and send their kids to the school to enable them to undertake their businesses and farm activities to improve their living conditions. Mr. Ben Mensah, District Chief Executive for Agona urged the association's members to educate their brothers, parents and sisters at home to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme since it is affordable and accessible for better health care.

He said the District Assembly has undertaken numerous development projects in the areas of health, education. Feeder roads, sanitation and poverty reduction to improve the living standards of the people. Mr. Kofi Obeng, President of Abodom Development Association said 10 computers had been installed at the centre.

He said the centre would be connected to internet to enable pupils, students and teachers to update their knowledge in ICT. Mr Obeng said the only stumble block at Abodom is the long protracted chieftaincy dispute that has halted development programmes and division among the citizenry .

He therefore appealed to the Nyakrom Traditional Area and Central Regional House of Chiefs to find lasting solution to dispute in order to ensure peace and development in the area.
