Minister offers cement for school project

Busunya (B/A), Feb 21, GNA - Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, Member of Parliament (M/P) for Nkoranza South constituency has presented 100 bags of cement to the Busunya Secondary Technical school in Nkoranza North. The cement is to support the construction of the school's dinning hall project initiated by the Parents Teachers Association. The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Abubakari Ankomah told the Ghana News Agency that the PTA of the school started the project last year to deter the students from going into town during break for food, because it affected normal classes.

He explained that most of them did not report back in time and the practice also encouraged truancy amongst the students. The Headmaster described the donation as a big relief to the PTA as the project was abandoned for lack of funds and commended the MP for the gesture.

Mr. Ankomah recalled efforts made by Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi towards the school saying his appointment as the deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports as in the right direction.

"Through the efforts of the MP, an NGO called EVCO based at Tema presented a number of computers and accessories to the school to enhance computer literacy in the school", he added.

Mr. Ankomah praised the PTA for its immense contributions and support towards the growth of the school.

He paid a special tribute to the District Director of Education, Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu for his advice and help leading to the establishment of a canteen for the school.

The PTA of the school commended the government for providing the school with a 33-seater bus to facilitate the movements of the students and staff to enhance the development of the school.
