Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, on Tuesday presented 500 dual desks to the Sagnarigu District Directorate of Education, for distribution to 15 basic schools within the district.
Alhaji Fuseini, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu, said the desks were to address some of the infrastructure needs of the schools, as well as enhance teaching and learning.
The desks were provided through the assistance of the Ministry of Education (MoE), following an appeal to the Ministry by Alhaji Fuseini and Mr Alhassan Dahamani, MP for Tamale North.
Alhaji Fuseini said education formed one of the core priorities of the government, adding that all was being done to invest in the people to acquire knowledge necessary for their personal and national development.
He gave the assurance that as MP for the area, he would continue to work to bring more developments to the area, to address the critical needs of the constituents.
He commended teachers in the district for their hard work, and urged them to desist from charging infrastructure fees at the schools.
Mr Alhassan Mohammed Sorogudoo, District Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, thanked the two MPs for championing the development of the district.
Mr Sorogudoo urged stakeholders in education, including school authorities, to work to complement government’s efforts at improving education in the district.
Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Mohammed Saani, Acting District Director of Education at Sagnarigu, said the facility had come at an opportune time, as it would help to solve some of the infrastructural needs of schools in the district.
Alhaji Fuseini accompanied by Mr Sorugudoo, also inspected work on the on-going Central Administration Block project for the Sagnarigu District at Sagnarigu-Kukuo, and later addressed a staff durbar of the Sagnarigu District Assembly, where he urged the staff to be committed to their work to ensure development.
