Half Assini (W/R), July 21, GNA - The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr Armah Kofi Buah, has assured the people of Jomoro that they would benefit from the oil industry through gas infrastructure.
Mr Armah Kofi Buah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ellembenle, said this when he addressed the chief and people of Half Assini in the Jomoro District of the Western Region as part of his visit to the area.
He said 1.2 billion dollars of the supplementary budget would go into the first phase of a gas project at Domunli near Bonyere.
The project would involve laying of gas pipe line from the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah to the factory at Domunlizo.
After the construction of the Gas Processing Plant, three other companies would be established in the area to manufacture fertilizer and ammonia from the gas.
Mr Armah Kofi-Buah said a further one billion dollars from the supplementary budget would go into the construction of a Western Corridor Road.
The first phase of the road includes a-four lane road from Effasu to Samenye and an Oil Enclave road from Samenye to Takoradi.
He said due the importance the President attaches to the project, he has constituted a Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) to be responsible for the project.
The chief of Half Assini, Nana Ayebie Amihere IV, appealed to the government to construct a concrete bridge on River Alleshialey to facilitate foodstuff and fish evacuation from Adusuazo and Asukro to Half Assini.
He called for the construction of Teacher and Nurses Training schools in the area since the district has no of such institutions.
