Minister visits Russian Chief Justice

Ms Dzifa Ativor, Minister of Transport on Tuesday visited the Russian Chief Justice, Justice Viacheslav Mikhailovic Lebedev, who is on admission at the Intensive Care Unit of the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

Justice Mikhailovic Lebedev was seriously injured in a motor accident on Monday while returning to Accra from a conference in the Volta Regional capital, Ho.

The Russian Chief Justice, one of the guest speakers at the annual Ghana Bar Association conference, was admitted at the Ho Regional Hospital and later airlifted to Accra.

Ms Ativor, Mrs Mary Obiri-Yeboah, Executive Director of National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Angwubutoge Awuni, Motor Traffic and Transport Union boss, were at the bedside of the Russian Chief Justice.

Ms Ativor told journalists that both Justice Mikhailovic Lebedev and his body guard are in a stable condition.

She urged the media to continue the campaign of educating people on road safety since “road safety is everybody’s responsibility”.

Mrs Obiri-Yeboah said her outfit would continue to educate the public on road safety issues.

She said Ghana still remains one of the best when it comes to road safety campaigns internationally, and in the sub-region.

Mrs Obiri-Yeboah called for collaboration among stakeholders in the road sector such as the road agencies, Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Ambulance Service to help reduce the deaths and injuries on the roads.
