Agogoso (Ash), Dec 23, GNA - The Atwima District Directorate of Education has expressed concern about the alarming rate at which defecation in classrooms in both the Atwima-Nwabiagya and Atwima-Mponua districts was gaining roots.

The directorate said in spite of efforts to stop this uncivilised and uncouth behaviour, some misguided elements continue this practice with impunity.

Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, Assistant Director of Education in-charge of Human Resource Management and Development, said the practice was undermining the promotion of quality education in the district.

He said this when he addressed an education forum at Agogoso in the Atwima-Mponua District on Tuesday.

Mr Asare-Bediako said the lukewarm and apathetic attitude of some residents in the communities towards the development of education in the district was affecting quality academic work and the moral development of the children.

He called on chiefs, opinion leaders, assembly members, unit committees and all stakeholders in education in the communities to institute measures that would make schools child-friendly.

Nana Kofi Ansre, the chief of Agogoso, gave the assurance that he would mobilise the residents and encourage them to actively participate in school programmes to enhance education in the area.
