Chiefs and elders of the Mole Traditional Area in the Kintampo Area have appealed to the Judicial Committee of the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs to expedite action on resolving the protracted chieftaincy litigation that had been brought before it since 2000.

The Chiefs led by the Krontihene of the Mole Traditional Area, Nana Adjei Adinkra II at a Press Conference held in Sunyani, indicated that the over fifteen (15) year old chieftaincy litigation was retarding development in the Traditional Area, which demanded urgent resolution.

Nana Adjei Adinkra noted that the education of children had adversely been affected due to the protracted chieftaincy dispute that has engulfed the Mole Traditional Area.

According to the Chief, the recent action taken by the Kintampo North Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. George Woode, has in a way rekindled the litigation after presenting one of the disputed Paramount chiefs, Nana Takyi Elaji II to the Flagstaff House as the legitimate Paramount Chief for Mole Traditional area in Kintampo.

Nana Adjei Adinkra alleged that the NDC Constituency Chairman, together with leaders of a group known as Northern Network Association of NDC in Kintampo, presented Nana Takyi Elaji to the Flagstaff House and accused the current Municipal Chief Executive, Michael Justice Baffoe of meddling in the chieftaincy dispute of Mole traditional area, hence his absence during the visit. This, according to the members of the Mole Traditional Council, was a wrong move to politicize the Chieftaincy issue, and that the NDC constituency Chairman, George Woode, together with some Regional and Constituency Executives of the party were condemned for their action.

George Woode, in particular, was asked to pacify the Mole Traditional Authority with a ram, which he did, and has been warned not to meddle in the chieftaincy issue of the traditional area as a politician.

Nana Adjei Adinkra indicated that rumors going round that the people of Mole in the Kintampo area have turned their back at the NDC as a government is not true, explaining that as patriotic people of the traditional area they support and continue to support any government in power for rapid development.

He stressed on the need to expedite action on resolution of the chieftaincy litigation before the Judicial Committee of the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs in order to have a lasting peace in the area.a
