New Edubiase (Ash), May 01, GNA - Reverend Monsignor Augustine Bio, Vicar-General of the Obuasi Catholic Diocese, has expressed concern about the high rate of immorality in the country particularly among Christian youth.
He said it was very unpleasant to see Christian youth involving themselves in immoral acts like bullying, cheating, corruption, pre-marital sex, child trafficking and black mailing of others for their personal gains.
Rev Monsignor Bio was preaching at the 11th World Youth Day celebration organized for the youth of the Obuasi Catholic diocese at New Edubiase at the weekend.
Over 200 Catholic youth from all the parishes in the diocese attended the celebration.
Rev Monsignor Bio said this was the time for the youth in the church to use their faith in Jesus Christ to propagate against all forms of immorality and also practice good deeds for non-Christians to learn from them.
He urged them to express their Christian faith in love, service, unity and peace to make the suffering of Christ meaningful to others. He again expressed his unhappiness about the way some Christians discriminate in terms of tribe, politics, religious faith and riches and said that was not the practice of earlier Christians and would not do the country any good.
Mr Francis Dorpenyoh, Adansi South District Chief Executive, asked the youth in the country to consider their role in the nation building important and said they should study hard and have respect for authority. He commended the Catholic Church for its contribution to national development.
