More potable water for Kwaebibirem District

Kade, Aug. 11, GNA - Eleven boreholes have been constructed in the Kwaebibirem District for various communities to enjoy portable water. The communities are Okumaning Bredu, Domonom, Mmofrafadwen, Kofi Wuo, Alafia Numbers two and three, Malam Nkwanta, Abenaso, Subi and Pramkuma.

Announcing this at a meeting by the District Assembly at Kade, the District Chief Executive, and Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye said four additional borehole plants had also been approved by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) in areas such as Abenaso, Kwae, Amanfosu and Kwamang.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye informed the meeting that Water Health International (WHI), an organization in the water sector was interested in entering the district to provide more potable water for the people. He explained that the type of water system WHI provided was almost like the small town water project, the deference being that it used surface water instead of borehole.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye announced that a police quarters under construction by the District Assembly at Kade had been completed and that three policemen had already moved in with their families. He said the assembly had procured 25 low tension poles to facilitate the five priority electrification projects to be carried out by the government in the District this year. On revenue mobilization, he said as at June 30, this year, the assembly had generated GH¢103,478, GHp71, representing 57.26 percent out of the total annual budget of GH¢180.728. The Presiding Member, Mr George Aboagye, said the meeting objective was to deliberate on how to improve the quality of life of the people. He expressed his gratitude and deep sense of appreciation for the support, co-operation and encouragement, he enjoyed from the DCE and his staff in local governance.
