Royalkids Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which focuses on deprived children, has appealed for support for the over 600 deprived children currently under its care in the Koforidua Municipal Area.
The Foundation which runs a non-residential support scheme, permitted the identified children to stay in their own homes and receive the needed support for their education and care from the Foundation.
It uses volunteers to pay regular visits to the kids to ensure their development, care and education.
The children, aged between one year and 15 years, are either school drop-outs, those who have never been to school, or those neglected by their parents, and are facing a lot of challenges which often affect their studies.
These children are from areas like Betom, Srodae, Akwadum, Osabene and Okorase.
Some of the children under the care of the Foundation, are either neglected by their parents, from poor homes, or orphans.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, the Director of the Foundation, Mr Bernard Amoah Gyebison, said their objective is to bring joy to the children, by reducing the burden on their parents and the children as well.
He said some of the children are brilliant and have talents that need to be tapped, but they do not have anyone to assist them.
Mr Gyebison said, since the Foundation was established in 2011, they have supported the children under their care with cloths, cash, education, mentoring, excursions, and annual end-of-year parties, to make them happy.
He said due to the limited resources of the Foundation, it cannot meet all the needs of the children, hence the need for assistance and support from others.
He called on society to show interest in the welfare of such children, to give them the opportunity to develop their God-given talents.
