Most Farmers in Ahafo region prefer crocodile machete to any other brand of cutlass on the market.
The crocodile matchet they claim is durable, sharp and handy.
Some farmers and farm labourers Space FM spoke to revealed that they grew up with the crocodile.
Mr. Kwaku Broni, a farmer told Space FM that he has used crocodile matchet since 1965.
Another farmer who only gave her name as Maame Tiwaa, said ?I saw my parents using this cutlass thirty years ago and have no idea of any other brand?.
She hinted that she has seen another cutlass with the same logo as of crocodile matchet selling at fifteen thousand cedis on the market and described the brand as inferior compared to the one she has been using.
The farmers however express concern about the high price of the brand in Brong Ahafo, saying that ?the price per one ranges from thirty to forty thousand cedis depending on the geographical area?.
Thirty five year old Kwaku Taller, from Kodiwohia in the Asutifi District, told this reporter that ?the crocodile matchet cannot be compared to any other cutlass?. He noted that some of the brands of matchets on the market do not last for a month while the crocodile brand can be used for six months.
?I would like to use the crocodile matchet always but some times my money can?t buy it?, Taller added.
Some farm labourers however indicated that they sometime buy other brands which have some defects because of their cheap prices.
