Akim Oda (E/R), July 11, GNA - The Akim Oda-based Smart Move Club in the Eastern Region at the weekend organised a clean-up exercise to help tidy up town as part of its first anniversary celebration.
The exercise which saw about 120 members of the Movement participating, started at 0900 hours through 1500 hours, from Nkwantanum along the two-mile street through the frontage of the Akim Oda Government Hospital to the Oda Central Market.
The weeded the open yard, desilted chocked gutters and swept along the street.
Speaking at the end of the exercise, the Assembly member for the Akim Gyadun Electoral Area, Mr William Quaittoo commended the participants for their communal spirit and advised them to hold the interest of the community above all other considerations.
Mr Reynolds Aboagye, Chairman of the Movement told the Ghana News Agency that it was formed on July one, 2010 with 15 members on the bases of a 93Susu Scheme" to assist its members to establish small-scale businesses so as to enhance their living standards.
Mr Augustos Atta Peters, Vice Chairman also stated that the clean-up exercise would be a regular future on the Movement's programme, to help eradicate filth that has engulfed Akim Oda and its environs.
