Mankranso (Ash), Oct 7, GNA - All 54 candidates of the Mpasaso Junior Secondary School in the Ahafo Ano South District who sat for this year's Basic School Certificate Examination (BECE) scored zero percent. Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the District Chief Executive, said the result of the Mpasaso School reflected the poor performance of schools in the district and that of the 1,328 candidates who sat for the BECE in the district only 334 passed.

Addressing a meeting of the Ahafo Ano South District Assembly at Mankranso on Tuesday, he expressed regret that despite the assembly's huge expenditure on education the performance of pupils was discouraging.

Mr Boateng cited that this year, the assembly has spent over 30 million cedis in the development of education in the district and appealed to all assembly members, chiefs, opinion leaders and teachers to collaborate efforts to address the pathetic situation.

He said out of targeted revenue of 666.6 million cedis for the year, the assembly had collected only 373.7 million cedis as at the end of August.

The DCE appealed to assembly members to assist the revenue collectors to maximise revenue generation to enable the assembly to provide more amenities for the communities.
