In a political campaign move which is unsurprisingly turning the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into a mess, the DCE for Mpohor, Hon. Ignatius Asaah Mensah, has been called to order and advised to follow directives from NPP Western regional executives.

A release signed by David Cameron Abekah, Director of Communications, Wassa Youth Forum, said it is highly preposterous, and an affront to President Akufo-Addo's directive on the suspension of group meetings due to the novel Coronavirus threat, only for a defiant Mpohor DCE to clandestinely engage in campaigning for his prefered candidate under the cover of darkness, and at dawn in villages.

The Forum said "the vulnerability of the people in our towns and villages should not be exploited and sacrificed on the altar of political expediency, as this epitomizes disrespect".

The release said "thanks to the fairness and political correctness exhibited by Mr. F.F Antoh, and members of the NPP vetting committee, the Mpohor DCE's miscalculations and unsuccessful bid to disqualify a candidate have been a source of worry gradually damaging the district's political architecture, hence his monstrous nightly and early morning political escapades".

The Wassa Youth Forum said Messrs Ndede Siah, Charles Onuawonto Nanabanyin Bissue, and Abdul Ganiyu, top western regional executives of NPP have worked tirelessly to remind DCEs and party executives not to play frontline roles in campaigning for their preferred candidates, but this has been glaringly violated by the Mpohor DCE.

"We express our displeasure about how the Mpohor DCE periodically abandons official work and engage in such a despicable act of campaigning against party prescriptions", the Forum stated.

The youths called on President Akufo-Addo, NPP national and regional executives, to call the Mpohor DCE to order with the view to sanitizing the political space for fair primaries in the constituency.

The Forum also condemned how the spread of false information had taken center stage in the district, allegedly being fueled by the Mpohor DCE. Our people are being fed with palpable lies, the release stated, explaining further how things are getting twisted with regard to a linkage between the President's appointment of DCEs and candidates who will win the upcoming Npp primaries.

The Mpohor DCE wants to secure his continuous stay in office, and such is the insensitivity and boldness galvanised for political campaigning when the government is grappling with how to control the coronavirus in Ghana, the release explained.

"When many people are suffering globally from this corona pandemic, administrative deafness from local leaders cannot be the best option. Rather, we believe it is just right for government appointees to emotionally invest in the wellbeing of our people".

In essence, this will capture the vibrant qualities of a leader needed for the extension of compassion and care, which our people deserve, instead of fixative politics ", the release concluded.
