Mpohor MP aspirant mourns party chairman

John Sanie, NPP MP aspirant for Mpohor, has said: "it is with deep grief and sorrow to hear about the passing of Chairman Peter Kojo Appiah onto eternal glory".

A statement issued by his communication team expressed "sincere, heartfelt condolences to the family of Chairman Appiah, as well as the entire Mpohor Constituency NPP for this great loss to the elephant family".

"In this time when there's a halt to political activities amidst the COVID-19 scare, we would have loved for our Chairman to stay on, and steer us all through successful primaries and a big victory for the NPP in December 2020 and beyond, albeit his ailment. But God knows best, and His ways are not our ways", the statement quoted John Sanie.

"My team and I remain eternally grateful to Chairman Appiah for his two-term exemplary leadership that inspired, promoted peace, tranquillity and hard work amongst executives, as well as the rank and file of NPP in Mpohor Constituency", the statement eulogized.

If further stated that "May the Good Lord grant us all comfort, strength, a spirit of unity and harmony, as we mourn the untimely demise of our venerable Chairman".

Peter Kojo Appiah, NPP chairman for Mpohor constituency, who died on 25th May, 2020, at the Crystal Hospital, West line Anaji, Takoradi, was a very affable individual clothed with matured politics.

A native of Adum-Banso, he was also a former Vice-Principal of Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI), where many of the youths in his constituency were assisted to acquire technical skills.

Under a Ghana-German Technical Cooperation, he also trained in Germany in the area of technical skills pedagogy.

Prior to Ghana's elections in 2016, his calm disposition and sincerity helped in the mobilization of financial and technical resources to assist electoral areas within the Mpohor constituency.
