Mponua Assembly sinks 190 bore-holes

Nyinahin (Ash.), Oct. 1, GNA - The Atwima Mponua District Assembly, has within the last 20 months sunk 190 bore-holes at a total cost of GH¢1,303,000.00. in 120 communities, to provide the people with safe drinking water.

Mrs Theresa Adomako-Tawiah, Mponua District Chief Executive (DCE), who announced this at an ordinary meeting of the assembly at Nyinahin, said that plans were underway to provide additional 120 bore-holes, seven of which, would be mechanized.

She said the assembly's effort would help reduce water borne diseases, particularly among the predominantly farming population. Mrs Adomako-Tawiah advised the beneficiaries of the facility to handle them with care, so that they could last longer. She said as part of efforts towards opening up the district, roads including the Bibiani-Tanodumase, Sreso-Nyinahin and the Bayerebon trunk roads were being rehabilitated.

Mrs Adomako-Tawiah said steel bridges would be built to span the Ahyiresu and Offin Rivers at Paamuruso and Serebuoso.

The DCE announced that the assembly was putting up buildings for the Nyinahin Senior High School, face-lifting the Mpasatia community market and constructing a health post at Wansamire and planning to all communities to the national electricity grid. Mrs Adomako-Tawiah called on the people to unite for the development of the area.
