Mponua Rural Bank Launches Raffle

Nkawkaw (Eastern Region) -- THE MPONUA Rural Bank, one of the leading rural banks in the country, has launched customers and shareholders loyalty raffle, the first of its kind to be launched by a rural bank in the area, exempts the directors, staff and their spouses from entering.

Speaking at the function, the vice board chairman of the bank, Mr. Daniel Ansong, stated that the bank was the first to launch 'susu' savings programme in the area and has given scholarships to children of a number of its shareholders and hopeh to expand it to cover more children.

On the raffle, he said one has to purchase a ?50,000 worth of shares from the bank which qualifies him to collect a ticket which will be put in a draw in July next year.

A customer has to deposit an amount of ?200,000 for a period of six months without withdrawing for ticket for the draw.

He said the more ?50,000 worth of shares or ?200,000 deposit attracts more tickets to enhance one chances of winning.

Some of the prizes will be fridges, television sets, gas cookers, sewing machines and other consolation prizes.

An assembly member of the Kwahu South district Assembly, Mr. Boasi Darkwa, who represented the DCE praised the bank for always being the first in bringing banking to the doorsteps of the people.

He also commended the bank for its moves to eradicate poverty among the people in its catchment area.

He appealed to the bank and others operating in the district to assist the assembly in environmental cleanliness in the area especially Nkawkaw which has been engulfed with filth.

The assemblymember reminded the gathering of the HIV/AIDS pandemic which, he said, could erode whatever gains the bank's activities would bring into the economy and advised them to protect themselves.

Shares were sold at the function.
