Mrs. Amoah Tetteh tours constituency to explain government policies

Twifo Praso (C/R), Sept. 8, GNA - Mrs. Elizabeth Amoah-Tetteh, Deputy Minister of Education, has undertaken several projects to enhance the socio-economic development of the Twifo-Atti Morkwa constituency in the Central Region.

The Minister has through the MP's common fund paid the school bills of 150 Senior High School and tertiary students in her area and constructed a three-unit and a two-unit classroom blocks for the Twifo Praso and Jukwa Senior High Schools respectively.

Mrs. Amoah-Tetteh, who is also Member of Parliament for the area told newsmen on Wednesday, after a one-week inspection tour of communities in her constituency that, she had supplied 2,000 bags of cement and 100 packets of roofing sheets to some communities, to enable them to rehabilitate school buildings, which are in deplorable state.

She said through her efforts, a contract had been awarded for the construction of six-unit classroom blocks each for the Kyiaboso, Abodom, Canan, Adugya, No. 9, Atresu and Osenegya communities.

She had also provided three canoes to aid the easy transportation of school children from the Agona, Pewodie and Mintaso communities on the River Pra to their schools.

Mrs. Amoah-Tetteh used the occasion to explain government policies such as reduction in the Senior High School duration, housing for the security services and improvement of water projects, roads and health facilities to the people in her constituency.

She announced that work will soon begin on the Twifo Praso-Fosu road and that it has been awarded on contract.

In another development, the MP had interacted with traditional rulers and old and new party executives of the NDC, during which she advised them to remain solidly behind the President and his team as the government worked to improve upon their lot.

The Minister appealed to them to bear with the Government in its bid to find solutions to problems it inherited from the previous government and advised them to embrace the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).

She expressed gratitude to the people of the area for voting massively for the NDC during the 2008 general elections.

Mr Michael N. K. Adovlo, presiding member of the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira district assembly, who accompanied the Minister on her tour, appealed to traditional rulers to take active part in the National Population Census exercise by sensitizing their people to co-operate with census officials to ensure its success.
