Municipal Chief Executive inaugurates board

Bolgatanga, Oct. 8, GNA - An 11-member board of directors of the Bolgatanga District Assembly Businesses Services Company (BODABSCO) has been inaugurated at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. BODABSCO is the business wing of the assembly, set up to generate income to supplement its locally generated revenue.

The business wing operates a gold processing plant at Digare for the use of small-scale miners in the area.

The board has Mr Robert Tator, a private legal practitioner as chairman.

Inaugurating the board, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Rockson Ayine Bukari urged its members to be up and doing to ensure that the business becomes viable.

He said by reviving BODABSCO, which became dormant a few years ago the assembly hopes to reap profits from its operations.

Mr Bukari took opportunity to urge all "galamsey" operators in the mining areas at Digare to send their gold bearing rocks for crushing and processing at the plant instead of the present crude way of pounding the ore, which is also hazardous to the health of the people.

The Municipal Chief Executive assured members of the board that everything would be done by his administration to support them in their operations.

The chairman of the board, Mr Robert Tator thanked members of the board and the assembly for the confidence reposed in him, and pledged the commitment of the members to ensure that BODABSCO thrives to bring in the needed revenue for the development of the district.

Municipal Chief Executive interacts with Zongo Youth

Bolgatanga, Oct. 8, GNA - The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Rockson Ayine Bukari, has commended members of the Zongo Youth Association (ZONTA) for maintaining peace and unity among the community, and regularly cleaning up their environment.

He gave the commendation when he interacted with members of the Association at Bolgatanga.

Mr Bukari announced that as part of measures by the assembly to facelift the Bolgatanga Municipality, more drains and access roads would be constructed and that the Department of Urban Roads had already done studies on parts of the Bolgatanga town.

Apart from the provision of access roads and drains, the MCE said street and traffic lights would be provided in all communities. Mr Bukari therefore, appealed to ZONTA to continue to lend support to the Assembly by ensuring that peace prevails in the area and that criminal activities are curbed.

He advised them against unprotected sexual activities in order to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS.

The chairman of the Association, Mr Abdul-Samid Kukula appealed to the MCE to consider granting small loans to members of the Association, especially women groups to undertake income generating activities to improve upon their living conditions.

He also appealed to the assembly to rehabilitate the 'Umaria' Islamic school in the area, which is in deplorable state.
