Municipal, district directors urged to help resource circuit supervisors

Nkoranza (B/A) Aug. 4, GNA- Mr. Kwame Gyedu Nuako, Nkoranza South District Coordinating Director, has urged municipal and district directors of education to help resource and strengthen circuit supervisors to enable them work effectively to enhance teaching and learning. He noted that supervision was an effective tool in ensuring academic excellence among students.

Mr Nuako, who was addressing members of the Nkoranza District Oversight Committee at Nkoranza, asked circuit supervisors to pay regular visits to schools and support teachers to work satisfactorily. He called for close collaboration between parents and teachers in the upbringing and development of children and said the assembly would support educational programmes to promote education in the district. Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, announced that there were 98 kindergartens, 155 primary schools, 48 junior high schools and a special school for mentally challenged children in the area. He said some unprofessional teachers in the area were pursuing courses under the untrained teachers training in diploma in basic education to upgrade their knowledge.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu expressed concern about the poor performance of students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), particularly at Dromankuma, Senya, Akrudwa Number One and Akrudwa Number Two communities.
