Accra, April 8, GNA - The Jamiat Al-Heddayat Islamiat Muslim Community of the Upper West Region on Friday called on the Government to dissolve the present Hajj Board, following another chaotic Hajj this year.

A statement signed for Alhaji Abdulrahamani Ibrahim, Chairman of Islamiat, also called for the institution of a committee to probe the organisation of this year's Hajj, which, it said, was fraught with problems.

"Muslims from this part of the country would endorse any proposal that would seek to have regional representatives on any future Hajj Board or Committee that pilgrims from the various regions can identify with and hold responsible for any lapses."

Islamiat appealed to the Government to review the allocation of protocol tickets to party functionaries, saying although the practice did not start with this Government.

The statement said in the future, a way should be found to separate "commercial pilgrims" from genuine ones.

Islamiat said it was their hope that the numerous problems associated with the organisation of the Hajj would be solved before the next pilgrimage.
