Participants at the Muslimah Mentorship programme
The Muslimah Mentorship Network visited Adab Preparatory School located in Nima over the week for their monthly mentorship activities focused on education, hygiene, and women’s health.
The visit, which took place on July 31st, 2025, brought together four dedicated mentors who delivered comprehensive sessions on critical topics affecting young Muslim women.
One of the mentors, Maryam Yakubu, opened the session by introducing the Muslimah Mentorship Network to attendees as the moderator, explaining the programme’s objectives and how it aims to empower and support Muslim women in their educational, religious, and personal development journeys.
She highlighted the mutual benefits for both mentors and mentees in the program while ensuring smooth transitions throughout the event.
Rahma Kabore addressed the subject of education, providing an inspiring overview of the importance of continuous learning from an Islamic perspective. She encouraged students to take their education seriously, emphasizing how knowledge-seeking aligns with Islamic values and contributes to both personal growth and societal development. Her session positioned learning as a powerful tool for shaping their future while building important connections.
Mariam Tahir Ayuba followed with an engaging and interactive session on menstruation awareness. She delivered comprehensive guidance on understanding the biological process in simple terms while emphasizing the importance of embracing natural bodily functions without shame. Her presentation included practical advice and touched on Islamic perspectives around cleanliness and menstruation, creating a supportive environment for questions and discussion.
Personal hygiene was comprehensively covered by Rahma Saeed, including oral hygiene, facial cleansing, environmental hygiene, and health hygiene.
The presentation emphasized the connection between good hygiene practices and overall physical and mental well-being. She highlighted everyday hygiene habits and reminded students that ‘cleanliness is not only essential for good health but also a key value in Islam, she reiterated.
The mentors also provided practical demonstrations and interactive sessions, ensuring all attendees gained confidence and knowledge for effective health management. The session included engaging question-and-answer periods that maintained high student participation throughout the program.
The event was well-received by both students and school administration, with active participation from attendees who appreciated the speakers’ efforts in making the sessions both educational and uplifting. The school expressed gratitude for MMN’s continued commitment to empowering young Muslim women through comprehensive health and personal development education.
