Muslims advised to send children to school

Nkoranza (B/A), Nov. 28, GNA - Alhaji Osman Yeboah, Imam in charge of the Nkoranza Islamic Community has urged Muslim parents to send their children to school so that they could become proficient in both Arabic and English to promote Islam.

He was addressing hundreds of Muslims at the Nkoranza Sports field on Tuesday to commemorate the Eid-Ul-Fitr, which marked the end of their month-long fasting.

Alhaji Yeboah said Prophet Mohammed wished that Muslim parents would educate their children so that they could effectively contribute to national development and also develop themselves.

He deplored the practice by some parents to allow their children to roam the streets and engage in social vices, saying the increasing incidence of armed robbery was a direct result of such neglect by parents.

"As parents we need to be very concerned about the training and education of our children so that they can lead morally upright lives," Alhaji Yeboah said and urged Moslems to support government efforts to reconcile the country.

Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, District Chief Executive, asked religious bodies to tolerate each other for the sake of the nation's steady development.

The DCE advised the Muslim youth to guard themselves against the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

The Muslims said special prayers for the country's leadership for smooth governance.
