Mampong (Ash), April 10, GNA - Members and supporters of Tijania and Al -Sunna Muslim sects at Ejura in Ashanti on Sunday night clashed over religious differences.

But for the swift and timely intervention of the Police, the outcome would have been disastrous on Easter Sunday. Police Chief Superintendent Augustine Gyeening, Divisional Police Commander of Asante-Mampong in the Sekyere West District, who disclosed this to newsmen said there were gunshots.

He said six out of the 10 people who were injured were treated and discharged at the Ejura Hospital, while the rest remained on admission. The Divisional Commander said no arrests had been made so far but that police had received some names and were making investigations to unravel the perpetrators. He said the incident occurred when the Tijanis allegedly attacked the Sunnis, who had mounted a platform and were preaching the Muslim faith.
