Nkwanta (V/R), Sept. 22, GNA - Mr Issa Yakubu, Volta Regional Coordinator of the Nasara Club, on Thursday entreated Moslem communities to embrace the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) policy to enrol their children especially girls towards better socio-economic advancement of the country.
He praised the government for redeeming its pledge of giving a practical meaning to the Fee-Free Basic Education policy saying it could only take a grassroots and principled party like the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to achieve this seat.
Mr Yakubu, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Nkwanta, noted that the "F" in the FCUBE, which had diminished over the years, had assumed its rightful pedigree to the relief of many parents.
He urged Moslem parents to educate their children, as posterity would not forgive them for any act of omission or commission, which would disengage the children from formal education. The Regional Coordinator urged parents to provide all the needs of their children and to sustain their interest in education. He praised the few Moslem women who were in the limelight for their achievement and expressed the hope that they would continue to serve as role model for others.
Mr Yakubu commended the government for evolving the capitation grant policy and advised it to ensure its sustenance, aimed at supporting the financial difficulties faced by parents.
