NADMO holds workshop for artisans

Offuman (B/A) July 12, GNA - The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) on Friday held a day's workshop on ensuring efficiency in disaster prevention for 50 masons and carpenters at Offuman in the Techiman District of the Brong Ahafo. The workshop, organized by the Offuman Zonal Secretariat of NADMO, was aimed at updating the skills of participants to enable them to build standard structures and buildings to help prevent disasters. Nana Takyi Mensah, Deputy Techiman District Coordinator of NADMO, asked landlords and developers to acquire permits before putting up buildings or structures. He urged artisans to abide by laid down plans and designs and to refrain from using inferior materials in their work. Nana Mensah also advised landlords to put up buildings in conformity with plans approved by District Assembly Planning Committees. Mr Oheneba Osei-Manu, the Offuman Area Council Secretary, advised the participants to put into practice the knowledge and experience acquired at the worhshop in preventing disasters.
