Koforidua, Nov. 1, GNA- The Deputy Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mrs. Augustina Akosua Akumanyi has expressed the wish of the Commission for the re-introduction of civic education as an examinable subject in the school's curriculum.
She was speaking at the second Eastern Regional Inter-school Constitution Game Competition for second cycle schools at Koforidua. Mrs. Akumanyi said it was important for students to get interested in governance and not perceive politics as a 'dirty game' or an enterprise for people who only wanted to make money. She said politics was an institution where the honest and patriotic people, resolve to steer the affairs of the nation in a democratic manner.
The Eastern Region Director of NCCE, Mr Emmanuel Quaye-Sowah said the Constitutional Game was to ensure that the youth had knowledge about civics and develop the confidence to take up leadership roles. He asked the students to take the learning of the Constitution seriously since it would inculcate in them the spirit of patriotism.
