The Ho Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education has started a series of engagements to educate the residents of the Ho Municipality about the significance of the voter exhibition exercise.

The exercise is aimed at boosting participation in the forthcoming exhibition of the voter register.

Francis K. Tommy, who is in charge of programs at the directorate, sensitised the Ho-Anlokodzi community on the significance of the voter exhibition exercise.

Mr. Tommy, during the community engagement, made it clear that the voter exhibition exercise gives electorates the opportunity to check and confirm their eligibility to vote ahead of election day.

He added that the exercise would allow all registered voters to confirm their polling station, especially first-time voters who registered at the Electoral Commission’s offices nationwide.

He again added that the voter exhibition exercise allows the voter to make changes to their name in the Provisional Register, which may be a result of a change of name or typographical errors committed during registration that were not noticed immediately.

Mr. Tommy added that the exercise offers citizens the opportunity to challenge ineligible persons and also requests the removal of deceased family members from the voter register.

Mawuli Dzietror, the Assembly member for the Toviadzi Electoral Area, encouraged his community members to participate in the exercise.

The Voter Exhibition Exercise will be held from Tuesday, August 20, 2024, to Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Dumega Abraham Kofi Kudze pleaded with the youth of his community not to allow themselves to be influenced into violence by anybody before, during, and after the December 7, 2024 general election.

When the Municipal Director, Rev. Vincent Adzika, was contacted by this reporter after the community engagement on the NCCE’s preparedness for effective civic education during the exercise, he stated that the voter exhibition exercise, which is an integral part of the electoral process, has witnessed the lowest participation by citizens since the coming of the fourth republic.

Rev. Adzika added that the Ho Municipal Directorate would be adopting all platforms available to the office to reach out to the citizenry for an effective voter exhibition exercise this year.
