The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Officer for the Savannah Region Mr Malik Basintale has delved into a debate that emanated from a comment made by President Akufo-Addo at a sod-cutting ceremony of the Tema Motorway project on Friday, June 5, 2020, in questioning the so-called projects the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been boasting of and have showcased in the green book. According to the President, claims by former President Mahama and the NDC are just fantasy and only existed in the party’s Green Book.

But the vociferous Communicator of the NDC responded on a show dubbed “Hot Issues” on Pan African TV in Accra by highlighting President Akufo-Addo’s visit to the Savannah region of which he used the Fufulso -Damongo road constructed by President Mahama and returned by Air through the Wa Airport also constructed by President Mahama again.

Malik Basintale speaking on the show on the night of 9th June, 2020 that was monitored by Bole based Nkilgi FM reiterated that President Nana Akufo-Addo was at Damongo capital of the Savannah Region and used the Sawla- Fufulso road constructed by President Mahama and captured in the green book and asked if President Akufo-Addo is saying us he rode on the back of a duck to Damongo.

“President Nana Akufo-Addo was in Damongo my Region and we welcomed him and thanked him...Lo and behold we thought once President Akufo-Addo has used the road constructed by President Mahama he has seen what President Mahama has done for the people of Gonjaland (Savannah Region) an so probably in sharing the national cake we ought to have gotten our share from the national coffers... Today President Akufo-Addo is telling us he rode on the back of a duck to Damongo, he did not see the road which is in the green”; Malik Basintale said.

Mr Basintale called on President Akufo-Addo to avoid “roadside speeches” just as any other Communicator in the NPP and focus on delivering his mandate as his time is almost due without absolutely nothing to show.
