Breman-Asikuma (C/R), Jan. 15, GNA- Drama unfolded at the Assembly Hall of the Breman Asikuma Secondary School, where instead of asking a question at a 'People's Assembly', Mr Andrews Aning, NDC constituency chairman of Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, rather announced his defection from the NDC to the NPP.

Mr Aning's announcement was made in the in the presence of the Ministerial Team, which was there to participate in the "People's Assembly".

He said his defection was on "personal grounds" and that he was interested in the development of his area, and was impressed by the government development programmes in the district for the three years it had been in office.

Mr Aning said he was pleased with the announcement by the Regional Minister, Mr Isaac Edumadze that the Brakwa-Afofosu/Ogonaso road had been awarded on contract for rehabilitation.

He said the people of Brakwa have been marginalized for far too long, in terms of development projects and said it was time for them to also get their share of the national cake.

Mr Edumadze, thanked Mr Aning for "seeing the light", and urged the people of Brakwa to settle their chieftaincy dispute which, he said, was hampering the development of the area.

Nana Amoako Baidoo VII, Paramount chief of the Breman-Asikuma traditional area, called on his people to do away with their political differences and forge ahead with the development of the district.
