Koforidua, Sept. 25 GNA-Mr Agyena -Sarpong, New Juaben South constituency chairman, New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region at the weekend said none of the local National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary aspirants poses a threat to the NPP candidate come 2012.

He said considering the performance of the NPP Government in the New Juaben Municipality during its eight- year rule, as against the abysmal performance of the NDC government, there was no way the NDC could even increase its votes let alone wining the seat.

Mr Agyena -Sarpong said the NPP was well-positioned in the constituency and that they had set out a target of more than 41,000 votes come 2012 and therefore urged all party supporters and sympathizers to work hard to achieve that target.

The constituency chairman was addressing the New Juaben South constituency annual conference of the NPP in Koforidua.

Mr Agyena-Sarpong urged all party supporters within the constituency to close their ranks and rally behind the Parliamentary candidate to retain the seat and Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to become President in order to save Ghanaians from the hardships they were going through.

He promised to ensure a resounding win for the NPP in the constituency in 2012.

The New Constituency Parliamentary Candidate, Dr Assibey-Yeboah, thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him to lead the party into the 2012 election.

He promised to do everything possible to retain the seat.

He also urged the party supporters to close their ranks and rally behind him in order not to repeat what happened in 2008 when majority of party supporters decided not to vote during the first round of voting which accounted for the party’s defeat.

Dr Assibey-Yeboah said the constituency campaign had been made easier because of the abysmal record of the NDC.

The Eastern Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Prince Aboagye, on his part assured the conference that the Regional secretariat was putting many measures in place to ensure that the party wins not less than 70 per cent of the popular votes and win more seats come 2012.

The constituency treasurer, Mr Kingsley Asamoah, later in an interview, spoke about the upcoming registration exercise and urged the constituents to turn up in their numbers to register and earn the right to vote for the NPP in the 2012 general elections
