Nkawkaw (E/R), June 18, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Bamfo Boateng, a 64-year-old Retired Educationist, has been elected as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Nkawkaw Constituency.
He was elected by popular acclamation by all the 194 delegates at the delegates' conference on Thursday.
The Eastern Regional Organizer of the Party, Mr Bismark Tawiah Boateng urged supporters of the Party to unite and intensify their electioneering campaigns to ensure victory for the NDC in Election 2004. He advised NDC supporters, who could not participate in the photo- taking exercise to do so during the mopping up exercise.
Mr Anthony Gyampo, Regional NDC Secretary, said the NPP administration had failed to implement its campaign promises of providing employment for the youth and to reduce school fees. He said the Government's policies had rather led to increases in utility tariffs; fuel prices, school fees and unemployment. Mr Gyampo asked Ghanaians to vote for the NDC to enhance their living standards.
Mr Opoku Preko, former Kwahu South District Chief Executive, said the Government had failed to extend electricity to 25 communities that were provided with low- tension poles by the NDC administration. The Parliamentary Candidate-elect thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and urged them to give him the needed support for the Party to win the Parliamentary seat.
