Nyamanyamani (N/R), Feb. 13, GNA - Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Abass, Distri= ct Chief Executive (DCE) for Nanumba North, in the Northern Region, has called on Ghanaians to support government to implement its development agenda, to alleviate the plight of the people.

He said the NDC government would work hard to fulfill its campaign promises to justify the confidence Ghanaians reposed in it in 2008. He said the government would not let the people down, since such a situation could affect the fortunes of the party in 2012.

Alhaji Abass made the call on Saturday, during the commissioning of a bridge at Nyamanyamani, a farming community near Bimbilla, in the Nanumba North District, to link Taali and its surrounding communities. The bridge was jointly sponsored by the Northern Region Poverty Reduction Programme (NORPREP) and the Nanumba North District Assembly, at a cost of GH¢123,000.

The Nyamanyamani village and its surrounding communities of about 12 thousand residents are always cut off from Taali and Bimbilla during rainy season, making it almost impossible to cart food produce to the market centres.

Alhaji Abass said the construction and commissioning of the bridge was one of the government's numerous developmental interventions to help impr= ove the lives of the rural dwellers.

He called for peace and unity in the Nanum area, to ensure that government's development agenda was not derailed, saying that, 93Peace a= nd unity is what develops communities".

He appealed to the rank and file of the NDC to lead lives worth emulating, devoid of violence, since it would go a long way to ensure victory in the 2012 elections, and assured that government would continue t= o honour its campaign pledges, to win more souls for the party. Alhaji Abass said the NDC had executed a lot of projects in the district within its two years in office and pledged that the government would work harder than before to meet the aspiration of the people.
