Kumasi, March 1, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will form polling station co-ordinating committees in the Ashanti region. The committees would be made up of NDC executive members in all the six constituencies in the Kumasi metropolis.

They will identify all NDC members and sympathisers within the polling stations and ensure that they register when the voters' registration exercise starts.

Alhaji Ahmed Osman Boakye, the Ashanti regional second vice-chairman of the NDC, announced these at a forum organised by the women's wing of the Kumasi metropolitan co-ordinating committee of the NDC in Kumasi on Sunday.

The forum was organised to educate women members of the party on the importance of the forthcoming registration exercise and how to convince supporters of the NDC to register.

Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti regional chairman of the NDC, advised all party members to register and to resist any attempts to stop them from participating in the exercise.

He said: "Once you are convinced you are truly a Ghanaian and eligible to register do not yield to any threats and strive to register as a voter".

Mr Alex Sawyer Attivor, chairman of the Kumasi metropolitan co-ordinating committee of the NDC, urged members to work hard so that the party could win at least half of the parliamentary seats in the region.

Mr Attivor said though the region was the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) through commitment the NDC could defeat the NPP in the region.

Miss Adwoa Adobea, women's organiser of the committee, said though women were a force to reckon with in the NDC, their impact could be better felt only when they were able to woo more women to the party.
